The Eldorado name was proposed in 1952 for special show car built to represent Cadillac’s Golden Anniversary. The name was derived from the Spanish words “el dorado”, which translated as “the golden one” in English. The Cadillac Eldorado was the longest running American personal luxury car as it was the only one sold after the 1999 model year.
